Cardona wins WRT Modesto Open, Horn & Parrilla win doubles

Alejandro Cardona defeated Jake Bredenbeck, 15-2, 15-10, to win the World Racquetball Tour (WRT) Modesto Open in Modesto, California for his 7th WRT title win. Cardona played well throughout the match, fading only slightly late in game two.

Bredenbeck was not at his best, and only got on track late in game two, when the match was already well out of hand.

After winning game one, Cardona led 11-4, when Bredenbeck found another gear and started to hit some winners. Bredenbeck got the difference down to two at 11-9, and then again at 12-10. But he couldn’t get it closer than that, as Cardona pushed on to win game two, 15-10, and take the match in two straight games.

Bredenbeck had a second chance to win a final Sunday, as he and Jose Diaz were in the doubles final. However, David Horn and Andree Parrilla defeated them, 14-15, 15-11, 11-4.

So, Bredenbeck’s only consolation will have to be that he won’t have to wait long for another chance to win, as the WRT is in action again next weekend in San Diego, where they’ll play the San Diego Open, November 6-8.
